Universal Studios Japan is one of the essential destinations when traveling to Osaka.
If you are going directly from Kansai International Airport, the shuttle bus that go directly to USJ are easy and convenient, but because of the limited number of buses, you may often have to take the train if the timing is not right.
However, for those who come to Osaka as tourists, train transfers can be complicated.
In this issue, we will introduce two ways to get to USJ by train with photos so that even beginners in Osaka can easily understand how to get there.
Two ways to get there by train
How to get there by Nankai Line and JR
- Take the Nankai Line to Shin-Imamiya Station, transfer to the JR Loop Line to Nishi-Kujo Station.
- From Nishi-Kujo Station, transfer to the JR Yumesaki Line to Universal City Station.

How to go by JR only
- Take the JR Hanwa Line to Nishi-Kujo Station
- Transfer at Nishi-kujo Station to JR Yumesaki Line to Universal City Station

If you take the Nankai Line’s limited express “Rapi:t”, it may take less than one hour to get there.
Please check the information board at the station, as the boarding time and the time required for changing trains will vary depending on the time of day.

Go out from the 2nd floor of Kansai International Airport and cross the connecting bridge.
You will see “Kansai Airport Station” served by JR and Nankai Line.
JR tickets are purchased from the blue ticket machine in the back, and Nankai tickets are purchased from the red ticket machine in the front.
If you don’t know how to buy a ticket, you can buy one at the ticket counter.
English is also supported.
The blue ticket gate in the back is for JR and the red one in the front is for Nankai.
Pass through the ticket gate of the train you will use.

How to get there by Nankai Line and JR
Take Nankai Line’s Airport Express or Limited Express “rapi:t”
Get off at Shin-Imamiya Station ⇒ Transfer to JR Loop Line
Take a train from platforms 3 or 4, but be sure to take a train other than the “Namba-bound” train.
All trains except those bound for Namba stop at Nishikujo Station.
Get off at Nishikujo Station ⇒ Transfer to JR Yumesaki Line “for Universal-city・Sakurajima”
Get off at Universal City Station
How to go by JR only
Take the Kanku Kaisoku Rapid Train(KIX Airport Express)
Get off at Nishikujo Station ⇒ Transfer to JR Yumesaki Line “for Universal-city・Sakurajima”
Get off at Universal City Station
Universal City Station ⇒ USJ
When you exit the ticket gate, turn left.
Passing through the shopping mall “Universal City Walk”, you will see the entrance.
